So that our active members can get a head start on preparing for their eventual retirement, we work each year with Ohio Deferred Compensation to help promote National Save for Retirement Week. This year it will be held Oct. 20-26.
One of the key activities that Ohio Deferred Compensation will be offering is a series of helpful educational opportunities for those planning to retire. These hour-long sessions, which you can access either by the Internet or over the phone, will stress the importance of building up your own nest egg to complement your pension.
On Oct. 22 and Oct. 24, a basic webinar called “Approaching Retirement” will cover employees who are getting near to retirement and seeking basic information such as asset allocation, risk tolerance and withdrawal options from their deferred comp account.
The “Beyond the Basics” webinar, set for Oct. 23 and Oct 25, is for those who want more-detailed 457 plan information such as withdrawal strategies.
“Retired Minds Want to Know” is a webinar to help participants simplify their planning, understand fund access and guard against various risks. It’s set for the following week, on Oct. 29 and Oct. 31.
If you’re interested in any of the webinars (the actual times are to be determined), you’ll need to register at www.ohio457.org when the links are posted, sometime in September. The webinars, during which participants can ask questions, can be viewed on any computer once you’re registered.
