Aug. 15, 2018 – Four current OPERS trustees are running unopposed for their seats in this year’s Board election and thus will begin new, four-year terms in January.
OPERS certified the candidates for the 2018 Board of Trustees election at this week’s Board meeting. Because all are unopposed, there will not be an election this year.
The following current trustees will begin new terms in 2019:
- Randy Desposito, representing college/university employees
- Christopher Mabe, representing state employees
- Ken Thomas, representing municipal employees
- Steve Toth, representing retirees

OPERS investment decisions concerns me. Should be investing for the long term. Hedge funds generally are not long term investments, plus fees are exhorbitant. Wish there were fewer hedge fund investments.
OPERS invests for the long-term, and one of our key investment principles is diversification to mitigate risk. More information on OPERS’ investment plans and policies can be found on our website at: https://www.opers.org/investments/inv-plans.shtml
