New financial wellness education debuts in March

Feb. 26, 2019 — OPERS began developing a financial wellness empowerment series in 2018. The first seminar in the series, “Bridging the Gap to Retirement,” was introduced last year. This hands-on seminar focuses on identifying how much income you will have in retirement compared to how much you will need in retirement, otherwise known as your retirement income “gap.” Will you have enough to retire? Do you know how much you will need in retirement? Are you making financial decisions today that will lead to a secure retirement future? This seminar helps you answer those questions.
Our newest webinar in the financial wellness series is entitled, “Personal Budgeting.” It takes a more in-depth look at your current net income and where you are spending your money. During this webinar, you’ll learn how to apply a popular budgeting rule to help you organize your expenses in the short term and accomplish your long-term goals. Quite often, by reallocating small portions of your income little by little, you can begin making positive changes that you didn’t think you could afford. You’ll also be introduced to a new online tool that will help you track your expenses and develop a budget that works for you.

These webinars are also available as employer on-site seminars. If you’re an employer interested in hosting one of these seminars, call us at 800-222-7377.
In the future, we’ll be expanding our financial wellness empowerment series to cover topics such as savings and investing, managing debt, borrowing and Social Security. Stay tuned!
