June 12, 2025 – OPERS recently concluded a series of informational presentations and webinars designed to provide current, accurate information about your retirement system.
More than 1,100 retirees attended the “Retirement Security with OPERS Leadership” road shows around Ohio during March and April, during which OPERS officials presented the latest news about investment returns, the current state of pension and health care funding, and legislation that could affect the retirement system. We concluded each presentation by entertaining a variety of questions.
Here are the topics that were most on our members’ minds:
- GPO/WEP/Social Security, including discussion about retroactive checks
- Whether Social Security will make Ohio a mandatory Social Security state
- Health care, including coverage for retirees who also serve as election workers
- Re-employment and its effect on a retiree’s pension benefit
- Whether OPERS will be pursuing an employer contribution rate increase
Meanwhile, more than 1,200 active members attended a series of “Lunch and Learn with OPERS Leadership” webinars. Designed to help members understand the value of their pension and achieve their goals for retirement, these sessions also provided information on the financial health of OPERS’ pension and health care funds, and updated legislation that could affect the retirement system.
More information about OPERS’ retirement and health care programs is always available on the OPERS website.
